Serhii Popov, Psychologist

Serhii Popov

Hello! My name is Serhii.

You were probably looking for a psychologist who could help you cope with the difficulties you are facing in your life, and that is how you ended up here. So let's get to know each other!

About me

A little about me first. I'm a man of forty-two, married, with two wonderful kids. I was born in Kharkiv and live in Brno, in the Czech Republic. I hold a master's degree in psychology and a diploma in clinical psychology, and for the past five years I have been training in gestalt therapy, working towards certification in this branch of psychotherapy.

Alongside my interest in psychology and in people, I am fascinated by computer systems: I have worked in IT for many years, and I have an engineering degree and a PhD in physics and mathematics.

What interests me in this work

Beyond individual consultations for adults, there are a few directions that interest me especially: working with teenagers, and facilitating emotional support groups.

For now these are directions I am exploring rather than services I offer — but if any of it speaks to you, I would be glad to talk.

What a consultation can give you

In a consultation you get a safe space, one where you are heard and accepted without being judged, but with curiosity and empathy.

I will help you explore and make sense of what is happening with you. Together we will look closely at the circumstances of your life that set off strong emotional reactions, and try to understand what really causes them.

With my help you will also be able to explore the other ways of responding that are open to you in a given situation. You will have support through your own process of growth and change.

Together we will get to know your true self — unhurried, gently, and with respect.

What a consultation won't give you

In a consultation I will not advise you on how to act, and I will not make your decisions for you. A consultation will not change the people or the circumstances around you.

You will not be told that you're "fine". And you will not be given a diagnosis.

One important note

I'm not a licensed healthcare provider in the Czech Republic, and my consultations are not psychotherapy or medical care. If you are in acute crisis, please reach out to a licensed specialist or a crisis line first.

How to start

The simplest first step is a free online introductory meeting for 15 minutes. At that meeting we get to know each other, you tell me what brought you here, what you are finding difficult in your life, and what you would want from a consultation. Afterwards you decide whether to book a consultation.

An introductory meeting commits you to nothing further.

You can also read how a consultation works.
